Our #PromiseSeason Story

Paris Hawk-Rollins
Co-Founder
Hello! My name is Paris Rollins and I am the Co-founder of Nation Against Poverty, INC.
A few years ago, I started #PromiseSeason because I was going through a rough time of leaving an abusive marriage as well as awaiting the birth of my son. Throughout that time, God spoke to me and told me clearly that my peace and #PromiseSeason was on the way! As the years went by, I grew and struggled. Even though resources existed, as a single mom, life still had its challenges. My father, Walter Hawk II, passed away when I was 10 years old and at that age, I started officially honoring his memory by giving back to the community the way he did. As a teen, I led a youth group around the homeless population while teaching them how to give those in need. I didn't expect anything in return but that led to me being awarded “The Prudential Spirit of Community Service Award” and "The President's Volunteer Service Award" in 2015 and 2016. That was accompanied with a plaque, certificate, and letter from former President Barack Obama.
Now, as an adult I continue serving my community in various ways with God guiding me. My goal is to make make visions come to life and create an experience with memories that last a lifetime. It's time to bring the nation out of poverty! My goal is to be the support system that I once longed for and because of our experiences in life, I believe that Nation Against Poverty, INC will do it's best to turn your visions into provisions.
Yours in Service,

In 2008, I found myself homeless with a baby on the way. I knew I urgently needed to put a roof over my family’s heads, but there were many obstacles in my way, and I had no idea how to overcome them all. It all came down to one moment that changed my entire life: the moment someone chose to invest in my family and take an interest in our future. Through this experience, I learned firsthand the many obstacles that people face or even have placed in their paths while aggressively striving to reach stability. I got connected to
United Way of Greater Atlanta, where I worked for more than 7 years while working toward a Bachelor of Divinity degree. It was clear to me that just like God used the people in my community to help my family, I must now work to empower others experiencing homelessness. I have a desire to see those in need beat their obstacles and achieve self-sufficiency. This is why I enjoy the services we are able to provide at Nation Against Poverty, INC. At the beginning of a new journey, we’ve already been blessed with the opportunity to serve so many people. I look forward to what the future has in store for us and the community. From the bottom of my heart, I say thank you to everyone who has invested in my family and Nation Against Poverty, INC, and to everyone seeking to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors experiencing homelessness or hardship of any kind.
Gratefully your Community Advocate,
